One Tiny Turtle

Hey there!

Happy Thursday! I was really excited about ordering the One Tiny Turtle book by Nicola Davies from the scholastic book order. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how I wanted to use this book... then with just 9 days left to go I thought to myself, "STOP over-thinking this just let them ENJOY it!" So here is the craft and writing page :) It is FREE on my TPT - get it by clicking on the image below!

Enjoy!

You life the turtle to find out that she is laying eggs!

The students LOVED making these and using their shape patterns from math :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there!

Here is what we were doing in our class this week :)

I found this great FREE pack on Wild About Firsties!

First we charted all about moms! It was so sweet to hear the things the kids were saying. My favorite student response was, "Moms have good hearts!"

The students made their own copy to share with mom!

Then we wrote about why we "flip" for mom! They loved writing about all the reasons they love her and how they were going to flip flop jobs with mom so that she could relax on her big day!
Thank you again Wild About Firsties!!

Then I wanted to make a fun card for the moms. I traced each child, had them cut them selves out and we made giant size cards. Then we rolled them all up and they just looked like a scroll. My mom LOVED hers when she opened it today ;) It was easy to do and the kids loved it!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Interrupting Chicken

Writing & Puppet Craft

This idea actually came from a great friend of mine. Maritza introduced me to this book and the cute idea of making puppets when we presented together in Georgia. We did a workshop on recycling in the classroom. (Pictures below)

I wanted to use this story to talk about dialog in our writing. I created a document where the students can create a scene of their own and then apply the dialog in a piece of writing. I also included the items to create the puppet craft.

I MUST say that the kids LOVED this story and the activity! They enjoyed coming up with a scene of their own and using the puppets to get ideas. They did SUCH a great job and they really did a nice job. I will try to post some student samples!
